Losing 75 percent of their starting infield — not to mention the heart of the batting order — caught up with the Salt Lake Bees on Sunday night.

In a 24-hour span over the weekend, the parent Los Angeles Angels called up Grant Green, C.J. Cron and Luis Jimenez.

The shake-up resulted in a new-look roster and some possible emotional fatigue for the remaining Bees, who struggled mightily during Reno's lopsided 19-4 victory at Smith's Ballpark.

The Aces pounded out 20 hits against five Salt Lake pitchers, including a pair of two-run homers by Nick Evans.

Bees starter Justin Thomas, who was 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA in eight previous appearances against Reno, took the loss. He allowed eight runs on eight hits in four innings.

Thomas retired the Aces in order in the top of the first inning. But he quickly ran into trouble in the second.

Mike Jacobs led off with a long double to left and scored when Andy Marte doubled into the right-field corner. Marte went to third on Roger Kieschnick's infield out before scoring on Aaron Cunningham's sacrifice fly.

Reno added to its 2-0 lead in the third inning.

Tyler Bortnick, the No. 9 hitter in manager Phil Nevin's lineup, opened with a triple. He scored on Tony Campana's single to center.

One out later, Evans jumped on a 3-0 fastball and lofted a home run that just cleared the fence in left, making it 5-0.

The Aces added one more run before being retired when Jacobs walked and eventually scored on Cunningham's two-out single.

Trailing by six, the Bees got on the board in the bottom half of the third.

Jimmy Swift doubled and scored on J.B. Shuck's two-out single. After Shuck stole second, Taylor Lindsey singled him home to make it 6-2.

Reno quickly countered with two runs in the fourth and 10 more in the sixth to bury the Bees, who slipped to 13-18 this season. They had won four of their previous five games.
