A much-needed face-lift was under way Wednesday at the historic George Taylor Jr. home in Provo, with all the construction work being done by women.

As part of National Women Build Week, female students, faculty and staff from Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University worked on the home at 187 N. 400 West to benefit a family in need through Habitat for Humanity, a news release said.

Paige Holland, wife of UVU President Matthew Holland, was to be among the crew, according to the release.

National Women Build Week is held each year in the lead-up to Mother's Day and challenges women to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their communities.

The release said Utah County's Habitat for Humanity affiliate is building with various community women throughout the week.

The nonprofit, interfaith group is one of more than 2,300 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, according to the release.

It has built or renovated 55 homes, providing housing for 90 adults and 168 children.
