Lightning struck 11 airplanes Wednesday night at Salt Lake City International Airport.

As a precaution, the planes were analyzed as a precaution and a few of the flights were cancelled, said airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann. Lightning striking the planes while they are at the airport is a "rare occurrence," Gann said.

Ten of the planes belonged to Delta Air Lines, and the other to United Airlines.

By Thursday morning, the airport was back to normal operations.
