Utah forecast: North gets for rain, south warm and breezy

It's going to be a wet, breezy weekend, Utah.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Wasatch Front called for a continuing cycle of thunderstorms and rain showers throughout Saturday, a repeat of Friday's weather patterns for the northern half of the state.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the high-50s as the rain clouds block the spring sun.

In other words, the kind of "Rainy Day" the contemplative rockers of Coldplay might relish, looking for the sky to wear "a veil of gold and green [when] time is just floating away."

It will be drier in southern Utah, but breezy. Winds of 20-30 mph were on tap as daytime highs rose into the mid-80s on Saturday, a couple degrees warmer than forecast for Friday in Utah's Dixie.

While you may want to keep a jacket and umbrella handy this weekend, all that precipitation and unsettled atmospherics brought some notable benefits. The Utah Division of Air Quality gave "green," or healthy grades statewide, and the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index was "low" for all those pesky plants that make you sneeze and rub your eyes.
