Gay rights advocates received a donation because of Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker's red vest.

The vest, which Becker wore while marrying same-sex couples shortly after Utah's ban was ruled unconstitutional last year, was auctioned at an Equality Utah fundraiser Saturdayin St. George. The vest went for $1,300, according to The Spectrum.

U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby's ruling against the ban on Dec. 20 remained in effect for 17 days. The U.S. Supreme Court eventually granted the state a stay, halting the weddings. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals has yet to uphold or overturn Shelby's ruling.
