Re: "Fear of economic blow as births drop around world" (Tribune, May 8).

It's far better to ease out of this Ponzi scheme of continuous population growth to fuel the economy than to ride it full tilt until it crashes — as it otherwise must.

Relentless increase in human population will destroy much more than just the economy, so we'd better learn to rein it in and live a sustainable lifestyle while we still have some leeway to choose.
