Sex is pretty much the last thing Utahns will discuss on Twitter

Utahns love watching sex online, at least according to a 2009 Harvard Business School study that ranked the state highest in online pornography subscriptions. But that doesn't mean they like to actually talk about sex online.

When it comes to Twitter, residents of the Beehive State are more likely to talk about virtually anything rather than sex — even beer — as shown in an infographic produced by the real estate company Movoto. They looked at a dozen or so topics, ranked them and compared them one to another in order to show what particular states seem to want everyone in the Twitterverse to know about. Why a real estate company cares so much about putting together such an infographic — other than to get me to write this article — is debatable, but the results are pretty interesting regardless.

For instance, tweeters in Utah talk about their husbands quite often, ranking No. 3 in the nation for discussing their male significant other when compared to wine.

Wives don't seem to register as high for Utah's men, though. In fact, girlfriends were discussed more frequently than wives, and girlfriends were mentioned more than even sports. What's the deal, dudes? Don't be a dingus: Pay more attention to your female partners after you marry them. And then tweet about it.

Of course, Utah ranked first in talking about church more than sex. Predictable. But it also ranked high in talking about Netflix more than sex. And shopping. And beer. And presumably also stamp collecting and mushroom hunting, though only the four above topics were explicitly listed.

For all the popularity of online sex in Utah, it seems to be something people here mostly want to keep to themselves. Which, you know, makes sense on some level.

The one state to talk about sex more than any comparison topic? Nevada. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but the evidence is splattered all over Twitter. Take note.
