Northern Utahns awoke Tuesday to hard freeze warnings, but they expected to shed their jackets as a warming trend highlighted the midweek forecast.

High temperatures Wednesday were to flirt with 70 degrees after Tuesday's low-60s. Skies will be mostly clear, though breezy.

Southern Utah generally escaped the freezing dawn temperatures. Under sunny skies, high temperatures were to hit the mid-80s on Wednesday, up 5-7 degrees from Tuesday's daytime readings.

The Utah Division of Air Quality gave "green," or healthy grades statewide with the exception of southwestern Utah's Washington County, where air quality was "yellow," or moderate.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index was "low" for all allergens approaching the midweek.
