CBS passes on 'How I Met Your Dad'; could it end up on another network?

"How I Met Your Dad" looks dead at CBS, but is there a possibility it could end up on another network?Maybe.Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said, "There were elements on the pilot that didn't work out. We tried to work out redoing the pilot. That's not happening right now."There are reports that Fox, which produced "How I Met Your Mother" and the "How I Met Your Dad" pilot, wanted a series commitment before it would reshoot the pilot and CBS refused.I haven't seen the "HIMYD" pilot, but I can tell you that the folks at CBS know what they're doing. They rejected the original "Big Bang Theory" pilot and, after some recasting and rewriting, that turned into the biggest sitcom on TV. And this season, CBS picked up the sitcom "The McCarthys," which it rejected a year ago before it was recast, rewritten, reshot and switched from a filmed comedy to a multi-camera sitcom.The network is also in the process of recasting and reshooting Matthew Perry's midseason comedy "The Odd Couple."But when it comes to "HIMYD," Tassler said, "That's not happening right now.""I'm heartsick. We love this brand and we love this show, but it didn't work out."There are reports that Fox is shopping "How I Met Your Dad" to other networks. And it's possible CBS could still pick it up before its option expires at midnight on Wednesday.Stay tuned ...
