Police have arrested a Weber County Jail inmate who escaped from a work crew Friday.

Joseph Wayne Cook, 27, and another inmate were working at the Weber County Animal Shelter on Friday morning when they walked off the job and tried to steal a bike from a home in Harrisville, deputies have said.

The homeowner confronted them and called police, who caught up with the 46-year-old inmate who fled with Cook.

Ogden police on Wednesday found Cook in Ogden, sheriff's deputies reported. He has been booked back into the jail.
