Ryan Mosley, Flaming Gorge Project Leader for the UDWR sent in this report from the annual spring net surveyat Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The video was shot a couple of years ago from the same event.

We just completed two days of gill netting in Sheep Creek Bay and it was a lake trout rodeo! On day one we netted 220 lbs of lake trout in an hour (3-nets). Check-out Northeastern Cutthroat Biologist, Natalie Boren, holding a 29 lber she wrangled from the nets. In addition to good numbers of large lake trout we saw several big, healthy rainbows up to 3lbs. The quality of the rainbows this season is very impressive and with the variety of food items in the stomachs, they should appeal to anglers using any angling technique. Wildlife Tech, Davy Black, and local fishing guide, Clark Sabey, proudly display some of these fine specimens. Finally, shallow waters are starting to warm activating a few smallmouth bass. Davy Black showcases our biggest smallmouth of the season, just shy of 2.5 lbs.We're at Antelope Flat tomorrow morning completing our last round of lake trout netting.
