Picking a baby name can feel like a momentous task, as if the future of your innocent babe rests on proper branding.
But for all their fretting, most Utah parents turn to old standbys: William and Liam for boys (versions of the same name) and Olivia and Emma for girls.
William and Liam have topped the Social Security Administration's list of most popular Utah boy names for two years running. Biblical names are enduringly popular: James, Jacob, Samuel and Isaac remain in Utah's top 10.
This year Olivia and Emma switched places in Utah, with Olivia taking the crown. Utah mirrors national favorites with Abigail, Sophia and Ava in the top 5.
Utah boys: William, Liam, James, Jacob, Samuel.
Utah girls: Olivia, Emma, Abigail, Sophia, Ava.
National boys: Noah, Liam, Jacob, Mason, William.
National girls: Sophia, Emma, Olivia, Isabella, Ava.
