Hans Olsen moving from ESPN 700 to 1280 The Zone

One of Utah's best-known sports radio personalities is making a jump to a new home on the dial.The Tribune has learned that 1280 AM The Zone is preparing to announce that Hans Olsen, the current cohost of ESPN 700's afternoon show, will join the station to host a midday show with Scott Garrard. The new show — and Olsen's contract with the station — is expected to be announced near the end of the week. The new show will debut Tuesday, May 27, and air weekdays from noon until 3 p.m.A former all-conference lineman at BYU and NFL veteran, Olsen has hosted morning and afternoon sports talk radio, and is expected to bolster The Zone's midday local offerings. Jake Scott and Tony Parks' show will be shortened from 10 a.m. to noon.On Monday afternoon, Bill Riley was hosting his show on ESPN 700 solo. Olsen is no longer on ESPN 700's list of radio personalities on its website. As of Monday afternoon, the station had not yet responded to an inquiry about whether Riley would be getting a new co-host.(Editor's note: Tribune columnist Gordon Monson is an afternoon show host on The Zone.)
