Letter: Take a hike (on public lands), Rep. Ivory

I am a 67-year-old, fourth generation Utahn who like my father and his father has had the privilege and opportunity of enjoying the aesthetic, recreational diversity of our public lands.

Apparently Rep. Ken Ivory and the bulk of Utah's Republican congressional delegation has not taken the time to visit or enjoy our public lands as I and thousands of others have.

Rep. Ivory seems to believe that the federal (public) lands that we enjoy in the West are a bad thing, and that the states and the private sector could do a better job of managing these lands. He uses eastern states as an example.

Maybe it is time he considers retiring and moving to Florida. If he becomes bored perhaps he can try to dismantle and develop the Florida Everglades.

I think it would be a good idea if he takes his fallen star Cliven Bundy and his cattle with him. It would be interesting to see how long Cliven would last in the cattle business on private property, where he actually had to pay for his cattle's feed.
