Woman critical after Ogden head-on crash

A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after another driver crashed into her head-on in Ogden on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was driving south on Wall Avenue when a northbound Dodge Durango drifted into the southbound lanes about noon, said Ogden Police Lt. Scott Connolly. The Durango narrowly missed another vehicle before crashing into the woman's compact vehicle "basically head-on" near 3400 South, Connolly said.

After the collision, the Durango rolled several times.

The woman, who was about 18 to 20 years old, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Connolly said. Her two passengers, another woman about her age and a 7- to 8-year-old child, also went to the hospital in serious to fair condition, Connolly added.

The driver of the Durango, a man estimated to be in his 40s, also went to the hospital with lacerations and possibly broken bones, the lieutenant said.

The crash is still under investigation. Police are looking into a medical problem as a possible cause, Connolly said.

Meanwhile, southbound traffic on Wall Avenue from 32nd to 36th Street was shutdown.
