A missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died Thursday in Honduras from injuries he suffered in a car accident.
Elder Angel de Jesus Martinez Campos, 27, who was serving in the Tegucigalpa Mission, was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in the accident, according to the Utah-based LDS Church. He was from Usulutan, El Salvador, and had been serving as a missionary since last October.
His companion, Elder George B. Lewis, from Francis, Utah, was injured in the accident but is expected to recover.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy," the church said Friday in a written statement.
