Utah forecast: Warm and sunny statewide for Memorial Day

The rain is gone. Spring is full, the sun is warm and wisps of clouds invite contemplation, and on this weekend in particular, memories of those who gave all.

On Sunday extending through Memorial Day, forests of flags and flowers rose, from Flanders Fields where poppies blow, to the roses, carnations and forget-me-nots dotting the headstones of Utah's own war dead.

There are more solitary remembrances, too. Old photo albums are dusted off; now-yellowed, creased letters from distant battlefields re-read; or maybe it's just sitting behind the wheel of a soldier's old truck, with "dog tags hanging from the rear-view," as singer Lee Brice recounts.

The forecast through Memorial Day calls for mostly clear skies both days with temperatures ranging from the upper-70s to low 80s along the Wasatch Front.

Southern Utahns look for a similar weather scenario with the mercury climbing into the upper-80s to upper-90s throughout Utah's Dixie.

The Utah Division of Air Quality predicted "green," or healthy breathing conditions this weekend, though wildfires in northern Arizona may waft smoke into southwestern Utah, deteriorating air quality there.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index was "very high" for grass and oak, "high" for sycamore and "moderate" for maple.
