An alert, quick-acting lifeguard is being credited with saving the life of a 3-year-old boy at the Clearfield Aquatic Center.

The boy somehow slipped under the water in the pool's shallow end where he was playing with other children, and the lifeguard spotted him about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

North Davis Fire District Captain Brandon Stone said the lifeguard rushed to the boy, pulled him from the water and immediately administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The child regained consciousness, was breathing and alert and in good condition when paramedics arrived.

"The lifeguard did a great job," Stone told the Standard-Examiner.
