Letter: Woods Cross mayor lies about reaction

Mayor Rick Earnshaw says that he received only positive comments about the Woods Cross Memorial Day celebration ("Veterans groups: Keep politics out of Memorial Day events," May 27).

This is a blatant lie. I am a resident of Woods Cross and I contacted him and all of the Woods Cross City Council expressing my disappointment. He and Sen. Hatch used an event meant to honor brave service men and women and bring our community together as a platform to push their one-sided politics and alienate anyone with differing viewpoints.

It was completely inappropriate and dishonored our community and our veterans. We all know that Sen. Hatch has no shame, but shame on Mayor Earnshaw for letting it happen and then condoning it afterwards. Mayor Earnshaw does not represent Woods Cross. Next year celebrate veterans and keep the politics out of it.
