The U. on Wednesday announced plans to build a 2,400-square-foot facility for the school's ski team, a project athletic director Chris Hill called "long overdue."

The building will be located between the school's new track and new softball stadium, and within walking distance of workout facilities at the in-construction Huntsman Basketball Center.

The ski building will house locker rooms, ski-tuning rooms, ski-drying racks, equipment storage, covered parking and a film room.

"It will provide a place we can call home," freshman skier Kevin Bolger said in a release. "This facility will provide us with the tools to remain in the top tier of NCAA skiing."

The U. announced goals to meet its $750,000 fundraising goal by September and to open the building by spring 2015.
