A 3-year-old girl was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a crash at a Sunset intersection, police said.

The girl's father was turning left from Main Street onto 1800 North when a large pickup truck going south through the intersection struck the car, according to Sunset Police Department Sgt. Brett Jamison.

He said the impact pushed the frame of the vehicle inward a few feet and injured the girl, who was strapped in a car seat on the passenger side of the backseat. The child was taken by helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition late Thursday.

The father and the girl's 1-year-old brother, who also was in a car seat in the back seat, suffered minor cuts and bruises, Jamison said.
