A woman's frantic 911 domestic violence call led to a brief standoff with her alleged attacker that ended only when West Jordan police first pepper sprayed and then stunned the suspect with a Taser.
Public safety dispatchers said the 911 call from the home, located near 2200 West and 7100 South, came in at 2:42 a.m. Friday. The woman said she was being held against her will by a 49-year-old man.
Officers arrived to see, through a window, the suspect and the woman arguing. The woman's shirt reportedly had been ripped during the struggle.
When the suspect refused repeated demands to surrender, police forced entry to the home about 3 a.m. and used pepper spray and deployed the Taser.
The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of domestic assault, unlawful detention, obstruction of justice and other charges, Officer Randy Anglesey said.
The woman was taken to the hospital to be examined and treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.
