Unified Police officers are looking for both a suspect and information in connection with a weekend shooting death in Kearns.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said 49-year-old Theodore B. Kelbach was shot to death Saturday night near 5400 South and Nez Perce Drive (5080 West).

UPD is looking for a man described as Polynesian, 20-30 years old, with long, curly black hair in a pony tail, and wearing a red shirt. Witnesses saw the man leave the home and get into a silver four-door passenger vehicle with a sunroof.

UPD did not release further information on the incident, or what may have led to the fatal altercation.

"We don't believe it was random," Hoyal said Monday afternoon. "[The victim] probably was targeted. The exact motive — we're still working."

Hoyal said they have received some tips they are following up on Monday, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.

Investigators asked that anyone with information on this case call UPD at 385-468-9817.
