A 93-year-old man was killed, a 92-year-old woman critically injured and two other people were seriously hurt in a weekend South Ogden crash.

South Ogden police Sgt. David Labbe said Monday that Russell Sylvester died in the 4 p.m. Sunday accident at Harrison Boulevard and Highway 89. His wife, Vivian Sylvester, was critically injured.

The elderly couple were westbound on Highway 89 in a 1999 Saturn when they collided with a southbound 2007 Toyota at the intersection with Harrison Boulevard.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, though witnessed reported that the Saturn may have run a red light.

Russell Sylvester, the driver of the Saturn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman in the Toyota were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Labbe said.
