A Millcreek woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a car crash near her home.
A 17-year-old was driving north on 700 East about 3 p.m. when a southbound car turned left in front of him near 2900 South, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.
The two cars collided, killing Kari Wartenbe, the 43-year-old driver of the southbound car. Her 35-year-old passenger was critically injured and taken to Intermountain Medical Center, Hoyal said.
The teenage driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. Three passengers in the teen's car, all in their late teens, suffered no serious injuries.
Investigators do not know why Wartenbe turned in front of the oncoming car; the intersection is not controlled by a traffic signal, Hoyal said.
