A series of brushfires shut down eastbound traffic on Interstate 80 on Wednesday night in Tooele County.

The fires broke out about 7:30 p.m. on the south side of the highway near the Salt Lake County line, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. All eastbound lanes were closed for about 45 minutes while fire crews from the North Tooele County Fire District and Unified Fire Department fought the flames.

The cause of the fires was under investigation, Royce said.
