Northern Utah looked for mostly clear, sunny skies heading toward the weekend, though thunderstorms were possible for higher elevations of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains.

Hot, hot, hot. All in all, that has to be The Cure for any late-spring weather blues.

High temperatures Friday along the Wasatch Front's valleys were to range into the low- to mid-80s Friday, mirroring Thursday's forecast.

Southern Utahns, meanwhile, could expect the mercury to sizzle to triple digits on Friday, after flirting with the 100s on Thursday. Sunny, cloudless skies also were part of that forecast.

The Utah Division of Air Quality predicted "yellow," or compromised breathing conditions statewide into late this week.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index was "high" only for grass, with plantain and chenopods getting a "high" grades and mod rated at "moderate" levels.
