Ogden police cancelled a missing person alert for an autistic teen after he was found alive and well — on a bus in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

Ogden police Lt. Danielle Croyle confirmed Friday that 17-year-old Taylor Daniels, who walked away from the Waterfall Canyon Academy a week ago, had boarded a bus for home not long after he disappeared.

His family was unaware of his whereabouts until he was found late Thursday night in Houston.

Family members had thought the boy, without cash or a cellphone, was still in the Ogden area and had come to Utah to search for him when they heard the news.

"He did not reach out to family. But the kindness of giving people helped him get money for a bus pass," Croyle explained.
