Forty years ago I became a U.S. citizen. Like all new Americans, I was proud to belong to a country with such high standards in law. No more!
Past years have shown how our system separates the wealthy from the poor. There is no " justice for all." Dominance by radical Christian groups and powerful church authorities have shown the demise of " separation of church and state."
Recently President Obama arranged to have a U.S. soldier freed after more than five years of imprisonment by the Taliban. Some of our leaders in Washington, as well as many citizens, are screaming for that soldier's head for alleged accusations. What happened to the American way of "innocent until proven guilty"?
Our system has deteriorated over the last few years and those who can fix it are the greatest abusers. Oh wait. Those who can change it are we, the American citizens. But then again, we'd rather elect and re-elect the same people into office.
