Apparently, a shoplifter decided his birthday celebration included helping himself to a West Jordan Target store's stock of iPods.

West Jordan police Sgt. Dan Roberts said the suspect — described as a heavy-set male, age 25-30, wearing a blue T-shirt, dark cargo shorts and sandals — made off with 17 of the prized music players late Sunday morning.

Police say security cameras show he made several trips to the 7779 S. Jordan Landing store's display case, grabbing several iPods at a time. Each trip, he hid them under merchandise clothing, went to another part of the store and then transferred the devices to his voluminous pockets.

In all, he made off with iPods valued at more than $2,600.

The suspect was last seen climbing into a white Jeep SUV with "Happy Birthday" painted on its windows.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the WJPD at 801-840-4000.
