Police were looking Wednesday for a suspected serial armed robber after three southeast Salt Lake City area businesses were held up within a space of a few hours overnight.

Beginning about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and ending just after midnight, the suspect — described as a thin, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 black man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black gloves — produced a pistol and robbed cash registers and employees at two 7-Eleven stores and a Pizza Hut.

The crime scenes all were within an area ranging from 500 to 700 East and 2100 South in Salt Lake City to 3300 South in Millcreek.

Salt Lake City and Unified Police officers were searching for the suspect, fearing the rash of robberies were just the beginning.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
