Members of Utah's Latino community are hoping to launch a new bilingual radio station this summer.

It would air on one of KUER's high-definition channels and would stream over the Internet, said Leo Gutierrez, one of the proponents involved in the effort.

Programming will be in English and Spanish, and will have educational value, Gutierrez said. "(People from) all different Latin American countries will be involved in this station," he said.

John Greene, KUER station manager at the University of Utah, said discussions are in the early stages, but are "moving forward."
