Firefighters acted quickly Friday morning to contain and then extinguish a two-alarm blaze in a west Salt Lake City commercial area.

Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay said the fire was first reported 4:37 a.m. Friday at the Semco Windows & Doors plant, 601 S. March Street (3000 West). A second alarm was issued due to the initial potential of flames to spread, but crews were able to keep the fire limited to the area of several sawdust collection hoppers.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was yet to be determined, as was an estimate for damages.

Employees of the door and window fabrication business reportedly were given the rest of the day off as cleanup and investigation got underway.
