As one of the requirements for earning my communications merit badge, I am writing this letter. I chose the topic of gun control because I feel strongly about it. I feel really bad for the victims of gun violence and their families. However, I don't believe tougher gun laws are the answer to this horrible problem.
Those who want to get guns will still get them even if there are tougher laws, just like teenagers still get drugs or alcohol even though it is against the law. I think the solution to this problem is to have more awareness of people with psychological problems and their ability to get guns. I think that as a society we should work hard to stop bullying and also to help those who have emotional issues to get the help and support they need.
Parents should be aware of what their kids are doing, and gun owners should be responsible for their guns. Everyone should not have to suffer tougher gun laws just because some people are not mentally stable enough to be responsible with guns. If anything, we should be helping and watching out for those who have emotional challenges.
