A stolen car spotted parked outside a southeast Salt Lake City motel led police to the arrests of two fugitives.

Police said officers found the vehicle outside the Skyline Inn about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. They saw a motel room key in the car which led them to the room where the male and female suspects were staying.

A 34-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both sought on arrest warrants issued for parole violations, were arrested and unspecified stolen property seized, along with a small quantity of methamphetamine, according to a probable cause statement.

Third District Court records showed both suspects have long criminal histories that include past offenses ranging from theft and shoplifting to burglary, identity theft and fraud to drug possession.

The female suspect was being held in the Salt Lake County Jail lieu of nearly $200,000 bail, while the male remained behind bars Friday in lieu of more than $37,000 bail.
