Work begins on 1300 South Monday | The Salt Lake Tribune

On Monday, Salt Lake City road crews will begin rebuilding 1300 South from State Street to 400 West.

During construction, access will be provided to all businesses and residences in the impacted area, according to a statement from City Hall.

The project includes replacing the roadway, improving driveway approaches and curbs where necessary, as well as improving crosswalks.

"The 1300 South roadway is a significant thoroughfare in Salt Lake City," said John Coyle, right-of-way manager for Salt Lake City's engineering division. "While we have provided maintenance over the years, it is now time to reconstruct the road completely."

Much of the concrete work will be done at night to minimize conflicts. Traffic will be maintained during the project with one lane in each direction.

Commuters, business employees and customers in that area should expect delays and look for other ways to get to destinations along 1300 South, if possible, the statement said.

Construction is estimated to take about four months.
