Utah enters the early throes of summer with seasonably hot temperatures.

Salt Lake City can expect a high temperature of 89 degrees Sunday, followed by a high on a sunny Monday of 88. Meanwhile, in St. George, Utahns will see a peak temperature on Sunday of 99 degrees, followed by three days of 100-degree weather, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.

Isolated thunderstorms, producing gusty winds but little rainfall, will also develop mainly in the higher terrains in the state Sunday, according to the weather service. There, meteorologists expect, the winds could reach 40 mph.

It does not appear the winds will do much to improve the air quality, though. Salt Lake, Utah, Weber, Davis Box Elder, Duchesne and Washington counties, along with the Uinta Mountains, have only "moderate" air quality Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, according to the Utah Division of Air Quality. Tooele County has healthy air on Sunday, but degrades into the work week, according to the division.
