Provo • BYU running back Jamaal Williams says his mother won't allow him to think about leaving BYU for the NFL until after his senior season in 2015. Just the same, offensive coordinator Robert Anae is pushing Williams to become the Cougars' all-time leading rusher as a junior.

Williams, who gained 1,233 yards in 12 games while missing one contest due to injury, needs 1,448 yards to break Harvey Unga's career record.

"I've already apologized to Harvey, because that record's going down," Anae said during the BYU Football Media Day.

Those expectations are fine with Williams, who's targeting a 1,500-yard season. He believes training and competing with BYU's track team for part of the spring helped him, and so will a more aggressive running style.

"I just need to be a little more vicious when people try to tackle me," Williams said. "It's just me trying to make it more difficult for them — like they're going to have to have at least three of them to take me down instead of one person diving for my legs."
