Provo police: Suit-clad takeover bank robbers nabbed

Provo police believe they have cut short the bank robbery careers of a quartet of suit-clad bandits with their arrests.

Provo police Lt. Mathew Siufanua said that detectives, working on "information received from a credible source," located and arrested the suspects Monday and Tuesday at separate residences in the Orem-Provo area.

Two of the suspects, ages 21 and 19, are siblings believed to be in the country illegally. In addition to being booked without bail on suspicion of two felony aggravated robbery counts, those two were being detained on federal immigration hold orders.

The third suspect, also 19, was a Utah County resident. He, too, was booked on aggravated robbery counts.

The suspected getaway driver, 42, was arrested Tuesday night.

The charges stem from holdups at AmBank branches on June 17 and May 2, in Provo and Lindon, respectively.

In both robberies, three men clad in matching gray suits, ties and false beards, brandished guns and took control of the banks' lobbies as they emptied tills and fled in a full-sized, white Chevrolet passenger van with tinted windows.

In the Lindon holdup, the trio reportedly used a stun gun and pepper spray on at least one bank employee.
