An Ogden apartment complex was evacuated after a fire broke out early Wednesday, and the blaze has been extinguished, firefighters said.

The fire was the second in the last four days at The Gate at Canyon Ridge, which used to be called Canyon Cove Apartments until a new owner bought the complex.

The previous fire occurred Sunday at a different building on the grounds of the complex at 1413 Canyon Cove.

On Wednesday, people in 18 units were evacuated, with three of them getting down from the third floor with the assistance of fire crews, according to tweets by the Ogden Fire Department. In addition, a dog and a cat were rescued.

No one was taken to the hospital, but four people were treated at the scene for minor medical issues, the fire department said. All animals were doing well, the department said.

The fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. and 34 firefighters fought the blaze.

The Red Cross is on site to help displaced residents.

Firefighters evacuated 20 units in Sunday's fire, which extensively damaged the third floor and the west-end units on the first and second floors of a different building. No injuries were reported in that blaze.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
