Unified Police say they have found the suspect in a series of armed robberies, including back-to-back holdups of two Conoco gas stations in Taylorsville.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said on Thursday that it turned out the 21-year-old West Valley City man already was in Salt Lake County Jail on unrelated charges.

The suspect had been sought in the June 10 robbery of the Smokies Smoke Shop at 1901 W. 4700 South, and June 17 holdups of the Conocos — at 2187 W. 4700 South and 4841 S. Redwood Road — within 10 minutes of each other.

In each of the robberies the suspect allegedly approached clerks, brandished a handgun and demanded and received cash before fleeing on foot.

According to 3rd District Court records, the suspect now faces a total of five first-degree felony counts of aggravated robbery — two dating to May 6 crimes. He also was charged with second-degree felony counts of attempted aggravated robbery and theft by receiving stolen property, as well as a class B misdemeanor count of interfering with an arresting officer.

He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday.
