A woman died after a sport utility vehicle she was in rolled Wednesday near Mona.

Maria Sandoval, 60, was a passenger in a Ford Explorer heading south on Interstate 15 when the tread on its right rear tire separated, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The Explorer crashed into the median and rolled several times before coming to rest on its top near milepost 239.

All four passengers in the Explorer were taken to Utah Valley Medical Center in Nephi. Sandoval died from her injuries, while the male driver was flown to the medical Center in critical condition.

An 11-year-old girl was also flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City for precautionary reasons, according to the UHP. A 16-year-old girl in the Explorer will be released to her step-mother, a statement from the UHP adds.

Everyone is believed to have been wearing seat belts, according to the UHP.
