Unified Police investigators Friday were trying to piece together an overnight shooting that left no one hurt, but did leave numerous bullets lodged in a car and a Kearns residence.

Public safety dispatchers received reports of gunfire from outside a home near 5900 South and Lodestone Avenue (about 5900 West) shortly before 3:30 a.m. Friday. UPD officers arrived to find at least one suspect, purportedly seen standing in the street firing a handgun, had fled the scene.

UPD Sgt. Ken Hansen said seven rounds were fired in all. Two rounds struck a car parked in a driveway and five more rounds went into a house, lodging in walls.

"This type of shooting is consistent with gang activity," Hansen said, though UPD had not nailed down a motive in this particular case.

Police did not immediately have a suspect description.

Anyone information on this case is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.
