Evanston, Wyo. • The $9,900 Wasatch Handicap highlights the weekend of racing at Wyoming Downs.
Ten horses have been entered in Saturday's 300-yard dash for three-year-olds and up, including Whata Corona Runner.
The 5-year-old son of 2001 All-American Futurity winner AB What a Runner, Whata Corona Runner is owned by Dennie and Kris Hill, trained by Brent Williams and will be ridden by Tyson Lusk.
Whata Corona Runner will break from the No. 9 post in the Wasatch Handicap. He has won five of 24 races for career earnings of nearly $38,000. Whata Corona Runner tuned up for the Wasatch Handicap with an easy allowance win on June 8 at the Jerome (Idaho) County Fair.
Also entered is Joe Legacy, the winner of the $38,000 Ed Giles Futurity last summer at the Salt Lake Equestrian Park. The three-year-old is owned by Greg Torgerson and trained by Chris Mitchell. Jockey Oscar Cervantes will be aboard Joe Legacy, who drew the No. 5 post position.
