Provo police have asked the public for help in solving a month-old murder investigation that has gone cold.

Since the strangled body of Belen Perez, 60, was found by her son on May 21, detectives have interviewed neighbors, friends and family, but have yet to identify a suspect or suspects in the slaying.

Police have said the woman's son was not a suspect in the investigation.

He found Perez inside her home near 2000 West and 50 North.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Police have declined to discuss neighbors' claims that the deceased was found with an electrical cord around her neck and Liquid Plumber poured on her head.

However, police have confirmed the victim suffered significant trauma and that her cause of death appeared to have been strangulation.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Provo police at 801-852-7400.
