The Howard Center for Family Religion and Society ("Anti-gay group is planning SLC event," July 2) appears to have as its goal the promotion of heterosexual marriage as the fundamental unit of society. There doesn't seem to be any indication that they oppose homosexuality per se as the first sentence of the article indicates. It is not surprising that the usual suspects in the LGBT community take umbrage at their definition of marriage. Well, everyone has a right to an opinion. Or maybe not.

Jason Rohlan is quoted as saying that citizens of Salt Lake City need to "know how dangerous they are." Dangerous? According to the article they are just going to have a meeting. No indication that they are planning an armed uprising or even civil disobedience. Steven Ha "hopes those views don't lead to violence." Violence? Who does he think is going to get violent?

Why does a vocal segment of the LGBT community think the existence of the Howard Center for Family Religion and Society merit all this over the top rhetoric? After all, they are winning all their battles. Why do opponents of homosexual marriage have to be demonized?
