Letter: Casting the first stone?

An adage remembered from my childhood is "Honest reflection is good for the soul."

The two people who attacked Ashley Simmons in the Public Forum may not have heard that one. Or maybe they just never hear about the starving or sick child in Africa or numerous other locations that "could be saved for a just a few cents a day" (less than the cost of feeding a medium-sized dog in the United States).

The confessed dog owner does not recognize that by owning the dog she is daily making the same choice, about someone else's child, that she finds so offensive when Ashley Simmons publicly admits to a similar choice.
