Weekend forecast: More hot weather in Utah

Utah is in store for a hot weekend, with temperatures expected to reach the 90s on Saturday and Sunday and flirt with 100 in many parts of the state.

The National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies and highs in the upper 90s in Salt Lake City and Ogden on Saturday and Sunday. The temperature in Provo also should reach the upper 90s on Saturday, then climb to near 100 on Sunday, the weather service says.

Highs are expected to reach the mid to high 90s in Logan and Wendover on the weekend. Park City will be only slightly cooler, with the thermometer reaching near 90 on Saturday and the low 90s on Sunday, according to the weather service.

Showers and thunderstorms and a highs in the upper 90s are predicted for St. George and Zion National Park on Saturday and overnight, with the rain returning on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's highs are expected to be near 100.

The Wasatch Front will remain hot through the rest of week, with temperatures continuing to top out in the 90s. The temperature in St. George should reach about 103 degrees on Monday, then near 100 Tuesday through Friday, the weather service says.
