What a relief! The words to "Utah Man" are now free from gender discrimination! I learned the song in 1954 when I was a freshman (freshwoman?) at the U. The lyrics didn't bother me then, because in those simpler times the word "man" was often used to denote "mankind," which included human beings of both sexesmen and women.
I earned my bachelor's (bachelorette's?) degree in 1958 and completed coursework for my master's (mistress's?) degree a few years later.
I will now be proud to continue to root for my favorite college team using any words that I consider to be appropriate.
