Horse racing: BK Katniss scores upset win at Wyoming Downs

Evanston, Wyo. • BK Katniss, a 13-to-1 long shot, scored an upset victory in the $32,475 Utah-Bred Futurity on Sunday afternoon at Wyoming Downs.

Owned by Bryce Moosman and trained by Ron Moosman, BK Katniss defeated One Smooth Movin by a half-length. First Rate Verson, the 2-to-1 favorite, finished sixth in the 10-horse field.

With jockey Justin Vanderwoude aboard, BK Katniss covered the 350 yards in a blistering 17.528 seconds to win for the second time in four starts. The winner's share of $14,614 bumped the filly's career earnings to $17,364.
